This talk will present a research perspective on the unfolding of the Muhammad cartoon conflict. The perspective will include a contextualization of the event(s) immediate conditions and structural circumstances leading up to the publication of the 12 infamous cartoons on September 30, 2005 and the Danish government's refusal to meet with ambassadors of Muslim countries in October 2005; include the result of the analysis of the Danish government's handling of the cartoon story as a crisis; and long-term effect on collective Danish memory of the conflict.
